58th Annual Bird Walk & Chuckwagon Breakfast

Sunday June 3, 2012

Mark your calendar for June 3rd, grab your binoculars and bird books, and meet us at Cottonwood Campground for some birding fun followed by a hot cowboy breakfast! Join us at 6:30 A.M. MDT for the 58th Annual Bird Walk and the 51st Chuckwagon Breakfast.

Rain or shine we will be meeting at the Cottonwood Campground in the South Unit of Theodore Roosevelt National Park. Immediately following the Bird Walk, approximately 8:00 A.M. MDT, Genie’s Kitchen Crew from Wibaux, Montana will serve the Annual Chuckwagon Breakfast with heaping piles of buttermilk pancakes, sausage, cowboy coffee and their famous rhubarb honey syrup at the Cottonwood Campground picnic area.

Following the breakfast and prize give away we will host a special presentation at the picnic shelter entitled “It’s Alive”.  This is a fascinating program on soil health presented by Jon Sticka, Soil Scientist for the Natural Resources Conservation Service.  Jon will show us how to identify healthy soil vs. degraded soil and give us some ideas on creating healthy soils wherever we call home, for us and the creatures we live with.

The Theodore Roosevelt Nature & History Association asks for a free-will donation for the breakfast. Reservations are preferred to accurately plan for the breakfast. Please call (701) 623-4884 or send an e-mail to info@trnha.org by May 31, 2012.
